2002 HONDA RC211V
Valentino ROSSI

I'm sending my first report of my work on the model. Being a great fan of motorbikes race and fan of Rossi, i decide to participate in this contest with the RCV 211 V.
The model is from STUDIO 27, with metal, resin and photoeched parts and wheels and front forks and other minor parts from TAMIYA NSR500 '00.

I hope mine will be close to this one.
(this is from STUDIO 27 website, i hope they don't mind i use this photo)

Since the time i send my first e-mail, i haven't done much because i was painting a real bike (my other hobbie) a Hornet CB 600.

Because i don't have my own digital camera i got to get one from a friend, the one i get it's not very good because it's an old camera and it's hard to get a good close photos. But any way here goes some pictures of my work.

December 26 2002

I start to assembled, cleaned, glued, filled holes and joined the all parts that will be use in the construction.

The motor will need some work, in the pictures i get i saw that will need to scratch some pieces, nothing hard to do.

December 30 2002

Not much was made since last time, i only open a hole in undercowl ( that way it can be remove to see the part of motor heart ), and also made holes in the exhaust silencers.

January 4 2003

I've discovered that is missing some detail in the rear sunspension and i decided to try make those details. An image of the real bike showing that particular spot.

that's it for now, see you soon

January 5 - January 18

My work is going very slow, but i have done something since my last time.
Then i decided to made some improvements in the shock absorver, because the one in the transkit was to simple and not accurated.
So i cut the existing shock absorver from the swingarm then the coil. I open a hole in the base of the schock and glued a plastic rod to it with about 1.6cm long,
I made a coil with wire and two pieces of plastic to make the connection between the base of the shock and the swingarm.

To show the diference between original and the rebuilded shock absorver see > the photos. ( it's not a work of art but it's better, i think?! )

And the swingarm completed assembled

That's it for now but I'll be back

The next part in this construction, was the engine. I start to painted him all black XF-1, and then drybrushed with metallic grey XF-56. Then painted all particular pieces that have other colours. Then was attached to the swingarm and to the frame.

After this i started the preparation to paint the cowlings of the machine. I started to give a blow of primer all over, and then white TS-26, after that i placed all REPSOL decals and then i blow with clear, before i start painted the orange and blue. After a couple days drying a start masked all those decals and paint the deep metalic blue TS Repsol 99 and the brilliant orange TS Repsol 99. After they dry i gave one blow of clear and placed the rest of decals, finally i gaved three layers of acrylic varnish i used in the real bikes, sanding between layers.

The slindig parts of the front forks were painted first aluminium X-11 and then oversprayed with smoke X-19 giving them a close to the real look. The forks was painted gloss black, the calipers with titanium gold X-32 with little wash of red for the words brembo, and the calipers holder with gun metal X-10.

Some details was added to the handle bars, switch the gas strings from upper to bottom on right handle, and in the left i added the adjustement screw.

This is the last part of this construction of the RCV 211, some times so enervating, but in the end a greater pleasure. Since last time, nothing much was done, just glued all the parts together, add wires etc, to turn in this beautiful machine ( all bikes are beautiful, aren't they?! ).
